Title Tag Length Checker
Check a title tag's character count and estimated pixel width against Google's roughly 600px desktop limit, with a live search-result preview.
Title Tag Check
Characters & estimated pixel width
Pixel widths are estimated with Arial in your browser. Google truncates by width on the searcher's screen and often rewrites titles and snippets, so treat the limits as a guide, not a guarantee.

How Google Shortens Titles
Google cuts titles by pixel width, not by character count: on desktop roughly 600 pixels of 20px Arial, which is usually 50 to 60 characters. Wide letters (W, M, capitals) use the space faster than narrow ones (i, l, t). The checker measures both, so you can see when a short title is still too wide.
Writing a Title That Survives
A few habits keep the important words visible:
- Put the main keyword and what the page offers first.
- Keep the brand name at the end, where a cut costs least.
- Write a unique title for every page.
- Google rewrites some titles anyway, especially ones that don't match the page or are stuffed with keywords; an accurate, descriptive title is the best defence.
