Meta Description Pixel-Width Calculator
Estimate your meta description's pixel width and character count, and preview the snippet, to see whether Google is likely to cut it off.
Description Width
Characters & estimated pixel width
Pixel widths are estimated with Arial in your browser. Google truncates by width on the searcher's screen and often rewrites titles and snippets, so treat the limits as a guide, not a guarantee.

Why Measure the Description in Pixels
Google shortens snippets to fit the space on the searcher's screen, so two descriptions with the same character count can be cut at different points. This calculator estimates the pixel width with Arial and flags descriptions past about 920 pixels or 160 characters, the common rule of thumb for desktop results.
What Google Actually Shows
The meta description is a suggestion. Google often writes its own snippet from the page text when that matches the query better. A specific, accurate description with the key message in the first half still gives you the best chance of being used as written.
