Social Media Size Guide
Reference guide to recommended image sizes across social platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.). Platforms change specs, so check before a big campaign.
Instagram Size Guide
Profile Picture
Displayed as a circle. Upload square.
Feed Post (Square)
The classic format. Aspect ratio 1:1.
Feed Post (Portrait)
Occupies more screen space. Ratio 4:5.
Stories
Full screen vertical. Ratio 9:16.
Reels
Same dimensions as Stories. Avoid text at bottom.
💡 Pro Tip:
Social media algorithms often compress images aggressively. We recommend exporting as JPG at 80-90% quality, or using PNG for graphics with text to keep edges sharp. Use our Image Compressor to optimize before uploading.

Why Dimensions Matter
Uploading the wrong image size causes social platforms to auto-crop or stretch your visual, often making it look blurry or unprofessional.
Cheat Sheet
Platforms change their recommended sizes from time to time, so check each platform’s own help pages before a big campaign.
- Instagram: Focus on 4:5 Vertical posts (1080x1350) instead of square, as they take up more of the screen in the mobile feed.
- YouTube: Your Thumbnail (1280x720) is your first impression. High contrast and readable text are key.
- LinkedIn: Professionalism is ensuring your Cover Photo isn’t pixelated on desktop monitors.
Safe Zones
For platforms like YouTube Banners or responsive Twitter Headers, remember that the “safe zone” (centered area) is what is visible on all devices, especially mobile. Keep logos and text there.
