Ecommerce SEO and Website Design for Retail Brands
We design ecommerce websites and run ecommerce SEO for retail brands that sell online, in store, or both. We built the e-commerce store and run SEO for HAMAC, a swimwear and resort wear boutique in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and built Krump's identity, packaging and online store from the logo up.

SEO Services
Ecommerce SEO is mostly category pages, product data and crawl control. We map keywords to collections, write category copy shoppers actually read, fix duplicate and filtered URLs, handle out-of-stock products properly and add Product structured data, in English and Arabic where you sell in both.
Local SEO & Google Business Profile
Retailers with physical stores win sales from shoppers who search before they visit. We set up a Google Business Profile for each boutique, keep hours and holiday trading current, and link store pages to the online collections so a shopper can check online and buy in either place.
AI SEO & GEO
Shoppers now ask AI assistants which brand to buy and where. Those answers draw on product pages, reviews, comparison articles and press. We test the prompts your customers use, then fix the product data, content and brand mentions that decide whether you're included.
Website Design & Development
We build stores on Shopify for most retail brands and go custom or headless when the catalogue or the checkout needs it. Every build ships with Arabic RTL support where it's needed, Tabby and Tamara at checkout, fast mobile pages and redirects mapped before launch.
Google Ads & PPC Management
Shopping and Performance Max campaigns are only as good as the product feed behind them. We clean the feed, split campaigns by margin and stock, track purchases properly in GA4, and run Meta ads for launches and seasonal drops when the creative is strong enough to carry them.
Branding & Logo Design
In ecommerce the brand has to do in a thumbnail what a shop window does in person. We build identities, packaging and product photography direction that hold up at product-grid size, and make the unboxing feel like the brand, as we did for Krump.
CRM Implementation & Automation
Abandoned carts, post-purchase follow-up, back-in-stock alerts and win-back offers should run on their own. We connect your store to a CRM or email platform and WhatsApp, so flows go out automatically and your team handles questions, not copy-paste.
The detail
Where does ecommerce SEO actually make money?
Mostly on category pages. Product pages rank for exact product and brand searches, but the broad, buying-intent searches (“women’s swimwear”, “linen kaftan”, “kids’ trainers”) are matched to collections. A store with thin, copy-free category pages leaves its largest opportunity on the table.
Think about how someone shops for a beach holiday in Dubai. They don’t search for a product code. They search for the kind of thing they want, in a size, for an occasion, and they want a page with real choice. That page is your collection, and it needs a short, useful introduction, sensible filters and links to related collections.
Product pages still matter. Each one needs a unique description (manufacturer copy appears on every competitor’s site too), real photos, sizing, delivery and returns information, and reviews where you can collect them. Our product description generator is a starting point for the first draft, never the final one.
Shopify SEO: what the platform handles and what it leaves to you
Shopify handles more SEO basics than most platforms, which is why we build many retail stores on it. It doesn’t stop a store from creating duplicate URLs, loading a dozen apps on every page, or shipping an Arabic version nobody wrote properly. Shopify SEO is the work in those gaps.
What Shopify does for you: every store gets a sitemap.xml that updates automatically when you add products, collections or posts, and product URLs are clean by default.
What you have to watch:
- Collection paths. Products are reachable at their own URL and inside each collection. The canonical tag usually points to the right one, but internal links from collection grids should too.
- Apps. Every review widget, upsell popup and chat bubble adds script weight. We audit apps against Core Web Vitals and remove what nobody uses.
- robots.txt. You can now edit it through
robots.txt.liquid, and Shopify itself warns that incorrect use can result in loss of all traffic. Change it only with a reason. - Markets and languages. Currencies, regions and Arabic need their own URLs and hreflang so each version ranks in the right country.
What should an ecommerce website design do for Gulf shoppers?
It should make a phone purchase feel safe. The shoppers we build for in the Gulf often buy on a phone, often in Arabic, and look for familiar payment options, clear delivery times and an easy return before they commit. Ecommerce website design here is about removing those doubts at the product page, before checkout.
The details we build into every Gulf store:
- Tabby and Tamara messaging on the product page, not just at checkout, so the instalment option is visible while the shopper is still deciding.
- Delivery estimates by emirate or city, shown before the cart.
- A WhatsApp button for sizing or stock questions, routed to someone who answers.
- Arabic RTL layouts that are designed, so prices, sizes and icons sit where an Arabic reader expects them.

Your product data is your marketing
Google, AI assistants and shopping ads all read the same product data: name, price, availability, images, shipping and returns. If that data is incomplete or inconsistent, every channel suffers at once. Fixing it is the least glamorous and most valuable work in ecommerce.
Google’s merchant listing structured data can put your products in product snippets, Google Images and shopping panels, and it requires a price greater than zero on a page where the product can be bought. Shipping and return policy details are worth adding too. Our product schema generator builds the markup if your theme doesn’t.
Merchant Center adds rules of its own. Its misrepresentation policy requires clear contact details, an honest return policy and the total price, including taxes and fees, before purchase. Stores that hide these find their products disapproved, which hits free listings and Shopping ads together.
Ecommerce marketing beyond search
Search brings shoppers who already know what they want. Ecommerce marketing also has to create demand and bring customers back. In the Gulf that calendar is built around Ramadan, Eid, White Friday, back-to-school and, in Dubai, the shopping festival, and each needs its campaign ready weeks before it starts.
We plan around three channels. Paid search and Shopping campaigns, structured by margin and stock, through our PPC management service. Meta ads for launches where the creative can stop a scroll. And CRM flows for abandoned carts, back-in-stock alerts and post-purchase follow-up by email and WhatsApp, which keep earning long after the campaign ends.
Mistakes we see on retail stores
- Out-of-stock products deleted, so every link to them now returns a 404.
- Filters that create thousands of crawlable URLs for colour, size and price combinations.
- A platform migration launched without a redirect map. Our migration checklist exists because we’ve cleaned up after too many.
- Manufacturer descriptions copied word for word.
- An Arabic store produced by machine translation and never read by an Arabic speaker.
If you’re a Dubai retailer weighing the search side specifically, our ecommerce SEO service in Dubai covers it in more depth.
Questions
What is ecommerce SEO?
Ecommerce SEO is the work that gets an online store's categories and products found in search. It covers keyword mapping to collections, product page content and structured data, faceted navigation and duplicate URLs, site speed, out-of-stock handling and internal linking. Category pages usually carry most of the opportunity.
Is Shopify good for SEO?
Shopify gives you a solid base: a sitemap it maintains for you, clean product URLs and a theme you can control. Its weak spots are duplicate product paths through collections, app bloat that slows pages, and a robots file you can now edit but shouldn't touch without knowing what you're doing.
Should we build on Shopify or a custom platform?
Shopify suits most retail brands, including bilingual stores. We go custom or headless when the catalogue has unusual structure, the checkout needs logic Shopify can't handle, or you need content and performance control that a theme won't give. We'll tell you which after looking at your catalogue and plans.
What should we do with out-of-stock products?
If the product is coming back, keep the page live, mark it out of stock, and offer a back-in-stock alert or similar items. If it's gone for good, redirect it to the closest product or its category. Deleting pages so they return a 404 throws away the links and rankings they earned.
How long does ecommerce SEO take to bring sales?
Technical fixes and better category pages can show movement within a few months. Content and links build more slowly. We report on revenue from organic search alongside rankings, so you can see whether the work is paying, not just whether positions moved.
Do we need an Arabic version of our store?
If you sell in Saudi Arabia, almost certainly. In the UAE it depends on who your buyers are. An Arabic store needs proper RTL layout, product names and descriptions written for Arabic shoppers, and hreflang connecting the two versions. Machine-translated product pages tend to hurt more than they help.
Can you migrate our store to a new platform without losing rankings?
Yes, if the redirects are planned before launch. We crawl the old store, map every product, collection and content URL to its new home, test the redirects on staging, and watch Search Console for the weeks after launch. Most migration losses come from skipping the mapping.
