Melbourne, Australia Google Ads
Google Ads Agency in Melbourne
We run Google Ads for Melbourne businesses that want enquiries and sales, not just clicks. Working remotely from Dubai, we build search campaigns around your services and suburbs, track every call and form, write landing pages that follow Australian advertising rules, and report on the leads each dollar of spend produced.

Account audit and rebuild
Search terms, match types, location settings and conversion actions checked line by line, then restructured around the services that make you money.
Targeting by suburb and region
Postcode and radius targeting drawn around where you'll actually travel or deliver, with location settings that keep out people who merely search about Melbourne.
Tracking you can trust
GA4 and Tag Manager set up for calls, forms and bookings, with enhanced conversions and offline imports from your CRM where possible.
Landing pages that comply
Total prices including GST, no claims you can't back up, and health pages written within AHPRA and TGA rules.
Performance Max with guardrails
Used where it suits, usually e-commerce, with brand exclusions, clean product feeds and separate reporting so it can't quietly take credit for branded searches.

Google Ads in Melbourne
Where Melbourne ad budgets leak
Most Melbourne accounts we’d audit lose money in the same three places.
The first is location settings. Google’s default targets people “in, or regularly in, or who’ve shown interest in” your area. For a Melbourne plumber, “shown interest in” can mean someone in Sydney reading about Melbourne. Switching to presence-only targeting is a small setting with a big effect.
The second is broad match left unchecked. Without negative keywords, an ad for “commercial fit-out Melbourne” can show for “fit-out jobs Melbourne”, and you pay for job seekers.
The third is tracking. If calls from ads aren’t counted, Google’s bidding optimises toward form fills only, and a business that mostly gets phone enquiries ends up bidding on the wrong searches.
Geography decides the campaign structure
Melbourne is wide, and buyers in different parts of it behave differently. A searcher in Toorak, a searcher in Cranbourne and a searcher in Geelong (which isn’t Melbourne at all, though Google’s radius targeting doesn’t care) may all type the same phrase.
So we draw targeting around where you’ll actually work, and often split campaigns by region: inner city, east, south-east, north, west. That lets you bid more where jobs are worth more and see which areas pay off. Our UTM tagging tool keeps the tagging consistent so the regions stay separate in GA4 too.
Australian ad rules worth knowing
Most ad disapprovals and complaints we’d expect to see in Melbourne come from a few rules:
| Rule | What it means for your ads |
|---|---|
| Australian Consumer Law, section 18 | No misleading claims. “Cheapest in Melbourne” or “guaranteed results” need proof or need to go. |
| Single price rule | Consumer-facing prices show the total, GST included, at least as prominently as any part-price. |
| AHPRA, section 133 of the National Law | No testimonials about clinical care, no gifts or discounts without stating the terms, no unreasonable expectations of benefit. |
| TGA and Google’s healthcare policy | No prescription medicine terms in ads or landing pages targeting Australia. |
We write ads and landing pages to these rules from the first draft, so you’re not rewriting everything after a disapproval.
Tracking first, then scaling
We don’t raise budgets until tracking is right. That means GA4 conversions for forms and bookings (our GA4 conversions guide walks through the set-up), call tracking for ad and website calls, and where you have a CRM, offline conversion imports so Google learns which leads became paying customers.
Then we scale what’s working, campaign by campaign. For a comparison from a different market, we built the site and run local SEO and lead generation for junk.cash, an auto recycler in Milwaukee.

Paid search goes further when organic search is pulling its weight too; see our SEO for Melbourne companies. Leads from ads should land somewhere they get followed up, which is what a Melbourne CRM set-up does. Our PPC management service covers the full method, and the Melbourne agency page has the rest.

How we work
- 01
Tracking audit
We check what your account currently counts as a conversion. If it's page views or a duplicated tag, Google has been optimising for the wrong thing.
- 02
Fix measurement
Tags, GA4 events, call and WhatsApp tracking and the CRM connection go in, and each is tested with a real submission.
- 03
Policy and permit check
For healthcare, property and financial services we check Google's policies and local advertising permits before launch, so ads aren't disapproved on day one.
- 04
Build or restructure
Campaigns, keywords, negatives, ads and landing pages built around the leads you want, in the languages your buyers search in.
- 05
Optimise weekly, report monthly
Search terms, bids and ads reviewed every week; once a month we tie spend to qualified leads and deals.
Questions
Why are Google Ads clicks so expensive in Melbourne?
Because the auction is crowded. Legal, trades, health, real estate and agency services all have many Melbourne advertisers bidding on the same phrases. You can't change the competition, but better ad relevance, tighter targeting and landing pages that convert lower what each enquiry costs you.
Can Melbourne health clinics advertise on Google?
Yes, with limits. Google bars prescription drug terms in ads and landing pages targeting Australia, in line with TGA rules, and requires certification for online pharmacies and telehealth. AHPRA's rules also ban testimonials and misleading claims. We check every ad and page against both before launch.
Should we target all of Melbourne or specific suburbs?
Usually specific areas. Metropolitan Melbourne stretches a long way, and a trade based in Werribee rarely wants a job in Frankston. We target where you'll actually go, and split campaigns so you can bid harder in the suburbs where jobs are most valuable.
Do you run Meta or LinkedIn ads too?
Where they fit. Meta works for hospitality, events and consumer products in Melbourne, and LinkedIn for B2B firms selling to CBD and Docklands companies. Search usually comes first, because those people are already looking.
Who owns the Google Ads account?
You do. We work inside your account with manager access, so the history, data and audiences stay yours if you ever change agency.
How much should we spend on Google Ads?
Enough to get a meaningful number of clicks on your core terms each month, which varies a lot by sector and suburb. We look at your category's keyword costs and your margins in the audit, then recommend a starting budget and a management scope.
