Mobile App Development in Manama, Bahrain
We build mobile apps, web apps and portals for Bahrain companies, from fintech prototypes to ordering, booking and field-service tools. Apps ship for iOS and Android from one React Native codebase, in Arabic and English, with data handling planned around Bahrain's Personal Data Protection Law. Our team works from Dubai and runs Manama projects remotely.

App Development in Manama
What kinds of apps are Bahrain companies building?
Mostly apps that remove friction from something customers or staff already do. For Bahrain that tends to mean fintech products, restaurant and retail ordering, booking for clinics, salons and hotels, field tools for maintenance and logistics teams, and portals for B2B customers. A consumer app competing for attention is rarely the starting point.
Here’s how that looks in practice:
- A fintech founder near Bahrain Bay needs a working product to test with real users and show investors.
- A restaurant group with branches in Adliya and Seef wants its own ordering app instead of paying a platform for every order.
- A facilities company needs technicians to log jobs, photos and signatures from site.
- A logistics business moving goods across the causeway wants customers to track shipments without phoning the office.
Building around Bahrain’s fintech rules
Bahrain has built an ecosystem for financial technology. The Central Bank of Bahrain regulates the sector and runs a regulatory sandbox where firms can test products, and Bahrain FinTech Bay brings startups, banks and investors together.
For the app itself, that means building as if an auditor will look at it, because one probably will. We design identity checks, permissions and audit trails into the architecture, keep personal data access tightly controlled, and document what the app does with each piece of data. We don’t advise on licensing; your compliance team and advisers own that. We build what they specify, and we build it so it’s easy to show them.
Arabic, English and the Saudi user
Bahraini users switch between Arabic and English constantly, sometimes within one screen. We design both layouts from the start, mirror icons and navigation properly, and test with real Arabic content. If your users include Saudi customers, we check that wording, number formats and payment flows feel natural to them too.
Data location and the PDPL
Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law has applied since August 2019. Apps collect a lot of personal data, so three questions come up early: what you collect and why, whether users are told about any direct marketing and can object, and where the data physically sits. Cloud hosting outside Bahrain is common, and the law restricts transfers to countries with adequate protection unless an exception applies. We put the answers in writing before development starts.
How we work, and what we’ve built
Two-week sprints, each ending with a build you can install on your own phone. Bahrain is an hour behind Dubai, so we hold demos late morning your time. We handled product design, development and brand for SmartVin, a SaaS platform for junkyards in the United States, and we’ve built our own free Chrome extension for checking Google results by location.
Related services
Apps need customers, so many clients also set up a CRM for their Bahrain sales team. For Saudi-side projects, we also do app development in Al Khobar. Read our full approach to web and mobile app development, or see all our Bahrain work on the Manama hub.
Selected work
How we work
- 01
Discovery
Short working sessions to pin down users, the one workflow that matters most, the data involved and what can wait. You get a written scope at the end.
- 02
Clickable prototype
The key screens designed and linked so you can put them in front of real users before production code exists.
- 03
Build in short cycles
Working software on a test environment every two weeks, reviewed with you, so changes happen while they're still cheap.
- 04
Beta with real users
A small group uses the app on real work. We fix what they trip over and measure whether the core workflow gets done.
- 05
Launch and support
Store submissions or go-live, monitoring, and an agreed support arrangement for fixes, updates and the next features.
Questions
Can you build an MVP for a fintech entering the CBB sandbox?
We build the product: design, front end, back end and integrations, with the security and audit logging regulators expect to see. The sandbox application, licensing and compliance sign-off stay with your team and advisers. We work to their requirements.
Should a Bahrain business build an app or a mobile website?
If customers will use it weekly, need notifications, or use the camera or location, an app earns its place. If they'll visit occasionally, a fast mobile website or web app is cheaper to build and easier to keep current.
Where should our app's data be hosted under Bahrain's PDPL?
The law limits transfers of personal data outside Bahrain to countries with adequate protection, with exceptions such as consent or the authority's permission. We document exactly where each piece of data lives so your legal adviser can confirm the setup works.
Can the app take payments from Bahraini and Saudi customers?
Usually, yes. We choose a payment provider that supports the cards and wallets your customers use in both countries, then design the checkout around it. We confirm provider support before the build so nothing changes late.
How long does it take to build an app?
A focused first version often takes a few months from discovery to store launch. Larger platforms take longer. We plan a smaller release first so real users can test it and shape what comes next.
How much does app development cost in Bahrain?
It depends on the number of user types, screens, integrations and platforms. We scope after a discovery session and recommend a first release that matches your budget and goals.
