Medina, Saudi Arabia Local SEO
Local SEO and Google Maps in Medina
We help Medina hotels, restaurants, dates shops and transport companies show up on Google Maps when visitors search on foot. That covers your Google Business Profile, geo-grid scans at short spacing around the Prophet's Mosque, reviews and replies in your guests' languages, and listings that match your commercial registration. We do it remotely from Dubai.

Local SEO in Medina
Why Google Maps decides where Medina visitors eat, shop and stay
Once visitors are in Medina, most of their choices happen on a map. Someone leaving Al-Masjid an-Nabawi after Maghrib searches for food, a pharmacy or a dates shop, sees three businesses in Google’s Maps pack and walks to one of them. Local SEO is the work of being one of those three for the searches that matter to you.
What’s different here is the customer. Many are on foot, in a group and new to the area. They can’t drive past and come back later. If your profile is missing, wrong or short on reviews, they choose someone else within minutes.
A geo-grid around the Haram looks different
Checking your rank from your own phone tells you very little, because Google weighs distance from the searcher. Around the Prophet’s Mosque that effect is extreme: a few streets can reorder the results completely, and visitors approach from every side.
So we scan on a grid with short spacing around your location, the same way our free geo-grid heatmap app works, and show the results as a coloured map. A hotel might rank first for people leaving one side of the mosque and not appear for those leaving another. Once you can see that, you can work on it: the right category, photos that show the route, reviews that mention the landmark.
For businesses further out, near Quba Mosque, around Mount Uhud or by the Haramain station and the airport, we use wider grids that match how far customers will actually travel.
Reviews in many languages
Medina reviews arrive in Arabic, English, Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish, Malay and more. That’s an advantage if you use it. A review in Indonesian tells the next Indonesian visitor that people like them have stayed and been looked after.
The routine we set up is simple: a direct link (you can make a direct Google review link in seconds), a QR code on room cards, receipts or the coach, and a WhatsApp message on the last day of the stay rather than after the guest has flown home. Replies go out in the reviewer’s language where your team can write it. We never offer incentives for reviews; Google’s policies forbid it.
Where Medina profiles usually go wrong
- The name doesn’t match the commercial registration. Google can ask for proof, and a mismatch leads to suspension.
- The pin is on the wrong building. In a dense block of hotels, that sends guests to a neighbour’s entrance.
- The wrong primary category. Serviced apartments listed as a hotel, or a dates shop listed as a grocery, compete in the wrong results.
- One profile covering several properties. Each property that receives guests needs its own profile and its own reviews.
- Hours that ignore Ramadan. Special hours exist for exactly this and keep you visible when your times change.
More than the map
Maps wins the moment of need, but visitors who planned ahead found someone earlier. Medina SEO for the planning stage covers that, and a fast Medina hotel or shop website gives Maps users somewhere useful to land. Our Google Business Profile and Maps service explains the full method, and Maps work for Jeddah businesses shows how it changes in a city where customers drive. Questions
Our hotel is a short walk from the Prophet's Mosque but doesn't appear on Maps. Why?
Usually one of three things: the wrong primary category, a pin on the wrong building, or far fewer recent reviews than the hotels around you. Density near the mosque means small differences decide the order. A geo-grid scan shows whether you're missing everywhere or only to visitors coming from certain directions.
Can a Ziyarah or transport company have a profile without a shopfront?
Yes, as a service-area business. You hide the address and list the areas you serve, provided you really serve customers at their location. Using a hotel lobby or a friend's shop as your address breaks Google's guidelines and is a common reason profiles get suspended.
Should we reply to Urdu and Indonesian reviews in those languages?
Yes, when you can do it well. A reply in the reviewer's language shows the next guest from that country that someone on your team speaks it. If you can't, a short, warm reply in English is better than a clumsy machine translation.
Does Apple Maps matter in Medina?
For visitors on iPhones, Apple Maps is often the default, especially for walking directions. Claim and complete your listing through Apple Business Connect with the same details as your Google profile, so both apps send people to the right entrance.
Do you come to Medina to photograph our business?
No. We work remotely from Dubai. We send your team, or a local photographer you hire, a shot list: the entrance, rooms or products, and the route from the nearest landmark. Honest phone photos usually do better on Maps than polished stock images.
How much does local SEO cost in Medina?
It depends on how many locations and languages you have and how much clean-up the listings need. We start with a free geo-grid scan of your main searches and scope the work from what it shows.
